Savoring the slow season.

I’ll let you in on a little secret: I actually love the post-holiday slowdown. Of course, gathering with friends and family is something I look forward to all year, but the joy of the holidays also comes with a flurry of events (and loads of extra baking) that can leave me feeling stretched a bit too thin.

I imagine that you don’t have to be a small business owner to resonate with this feeling. There’s something to be said for using the start of the year as a time for self-care, coziness and calm. As a Dane, I would label all of this hygge—essentially, the art of intentional time. Whether that’s lighting a favorite candle while you read a book, increasing the ratio of baths to showers in your weekly routine or taking a moment to watch the fire crackle or the snow fall…hygge is all about tapping into simple pleasures and allowing yourself to just be for a few moments.

As you start your new year, we hope our little café can continue to be a space where you can indulge in these replenishing rituals. Whether you swing by solo or treat yourself to a coffee with friends, we are here to host the small moments that matter, all winter long.


January Happenings


SMØRREBRØD WORKSHOP
Thursday, January 25th, 6pm - 8pm

If you’ve explored our savory menu, you’ve likely enjoyed our open-faced toasts (aka smørrebrød!). These Danish delights are a remarkably healthy and nourishing way to prepare everyday meals, no matter the season. In this after-hours workshop, we’ll explore the history and traditions surrounding smørrebrød—and we’ll prep several eye-catching flavor combinations to enjoy or bring home to share with your families.


FLAVOR OF THE MONTH

Returning by popular demand: The Scotti! Originally debuted in March of last year, this brown sugar and brown butter shortbread cookie has remained one of our all-time most requested sweets. Since our mission for January is to lean into the enjoyment of day-to-day life, what better way to celebrate this cozy season?


VALENTINE’S DAY SUPPER CLUB
Wednesday, February 14th, 6:30pm

For the lovers out there, we’ll be hosting a very small indoor seating of tables for two this Valentine’s Day. While the menu will not be released in advance, guests will enjoy a prix fixe, multi-course menu paired with seasonal mocktails. All dishes will be gluten-free, and vegetarian diners can be accommodated as well.
